Simply put, any information you provide us will not be provided to anyone else without your consent or a court order to do so. We do not and will not sell any information submitted to us, to anyone, at any time. We will however, based upon your consent, publish the information you submit to KYroots on a publicly viewable web site as detailed below.

The South Family Genealogy Association operating as kentuckyroots.org (referred to in this document as "KYroots") owns and operates kentuckyroots.org and may operate other websites. It is KYroots' policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating our websites.

Usage Rights

All content on the kentuckyroots.org web site is copyrighted and published for your use in your own personal, not for profit or sale, genealogy research.

1. You may NOT use any part of the contents of the kentuckyroots.org web site for ANY purpose (including use on another web site) other than your own personal, not for profit or sale, genealogy research.
2. You may NOT provide any information contained the kentuckyroots.org web site to ANYONE for ANY reason, without first obtaining written permission from the South Family Genealogy Association.

Membership

Membership to kentuckyroots.org is FREE.

KYroots requires users become members to gain access to certain information that cannot be published publicly. This information is primarily names of those who are still living and the contact information for other researchers. Membership is strictly to protect the privacy of the users of our web site. KYroots will not track or spy on you, and you may cancel your membership at any time by simply contacting us. Once canceled, your information will be deleted from our servers permanently. You may rejoin at any time after canceling.

The data you provide as a part of becoming a member falls under KYroots' Privacy Policy

You do not need to become a member to be listed on the Family Connections page, but we do strongly encourage it so that you may interact with other researchers listed there.

KYroots may occasionally send members an email to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with what’s going on with KYroots and our services. The email may or may not contain ads from our sponsors, but we will never send you an email that is nothing but advertising.

Members are strictly forbidden to share another member's contact or personal information with anyone without first obtaining permission to do so. Any member suspected of breaking this trust may have their membership revoked immediately and permanently from kentuckyroots.org.

Members are required to maintain a working email address and to insure their email address on file with kentuckyroots.org r emains current. If at any time it becomes evident the email address on file with kentuckyroots.org is no longer functioning, the membership account will immediately be deactivated. You may have your account restored by contacting us and providing us with a working email address.

Requesting membership to kentuckyroots.org constitutes your acceptance of this membership policy.

Email Lists

Submitting your email address when subscribing to an email list hosted by KYroots gives KYroots your consent to send email to you strictly for the purpose you submitted your email for. There may or may not be advertisements from our sponsors included in these email, however you will receive no email from KYroots that contains nothing but advertising.

Submitting your email address when subscribing to an email list hosted by Ancestry/Rootsweb places you under the Ancestry/Rootsweb Privacy Policy and absolves KYroots of responsibility regarding how your email address may be used by Ancestry/Rootsweb. We do not collect your email address when you use our web site to subscribe to an Ancestry/Rootsweb hosted list.

Submitted Data

Your request to be added to the Family Connections page gives us your consent to publish your name, the researcher's name (if a different person), an email address, and the list of your ancestors, to the publicly accessible Family Connections page and absolves KYroots of responsibility related to how this information may be used. You may request at any time to have your information removed from the Family Connections page.

Your request to have a link to your web site on KYroots' web site gives KYroots your consent to post your name, your email address, your web site name, and a link to your web site, on a publicly accessible page on our web site. Your request also signifies:

1. You are the owner/web master/etc. of the site you're submitting and as such have the right to make such a request.
2. Your acceptance that you cannot and will not hold anyone connected to KYroots' web site responsible or to blame should information from your web site be used for any purpose without your consent.
3. You understand your request can be rejected by KYroots without specifying a reason. We will not post links to a web page of genealogy links and information that is part of a for profit web site that otherwise has nothing to do with genealogy.
4. You accept that your link may be removed from KYroots' web site at any time without notice.

Your submission of data, photos, images, or documents to be added to the contents of this web site gives KYroots your consent to publish that data on our publicly accessible web site. You will be credited for your contribution.

While KYroots emphasizes and openly states all information on our web site cannot be used for any purpose other than personal research, KYroots cannot be responsible if any of your information, which you consented to being publicly published on KYroots' web site, is used by anyone for profit.

Other than publishing the information you provide to KYroots specifically for that purpose, KYroots will not directly provide it to anyone else, for any reason, other than that which has been stated in our policies.
